Hi, I'm Ilona, a Senior Graphic Designer at the European Commission.
I have ten years of corporate design experience. After four great years in London, I am back to Brussels and to the European Commission. I’m currently working as a graphic designer in the communications team at the Directorate-General for the Defence Industry and Space (DEFIS).
During the four years in London, I worked as a graphic designer in a variety of roles, which have deepened my experience and knowledge. I worked for global consulting, media and finance companies. I have also worked as a freelancer.
I have worked on variety of design projects, both for internal and external communications, including large publications, flyers, infographics, social media and web assets, presentation decks, event branding and video graphics.
I particularly enjoy working on the layout of large publications (annual reports, brochures, magazines, whitepapers, bids and proposals, etc.). There is something really exciting about organising text, images and colours to create publications that are not only visually stunning, but also effective at communicating the message to the readers.
Having worked for a large international organisation and a global management consulting firm, I understand the importance of a consistent visual identity. I like the challenge of pushing creative boundaries within strict corporate guidelines. I like clean, modern design style.
I am adventurous. In my design, I like to explore ideas and always try to find best solutions for my clients, challenging them, when needed. In life, I like to take not typical paths.
“The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.” by Dorothy Parker is one of my favourite quotes. I strive to constantly develop my skills and strive for excellence. In my role at DMA Media, I developed my After Effects skills and worked on some exciting motion graphics projects for social media and videos. I enjoy attending all sorts of creative/design events and courses. I always come back inspired and with lots of new ideas for my work.
